In this past year, support has been added for multiple new platforms to make the emulator accessible, performance has dramatically increased, new features such as save states and cheat support have landed to make emulating more fun, and numerous accuracy improvements were made to continue polishing the overall emulation experience. Back in July the first video of redream running on the Raspberry Pi 4b was posted. The plan at the time was to release it within 2 weeks, but other priorities came up and getting the Pi release to production quality was put on hold.
Last week we released our newest stable build, version 1. During this time, many quality of life features have been implemented to make the emulator easier and more enjoyable to use, graphics have taken another step forward, and our audio emulation has finally reached a mature point where there are features yet to be implemented, but what's implemented now works great.

According to the ranking service Alexa, the top three sites in the United States, as of this writing, are Google, YouTube, and Facebook.
The only truly surprising entry, in fourth place, is Reddit, whose astronomical popularity seems at odds with the fact that many Americans have only vaguely heard of the site and have no real understanding of what it is.
A link aggregator? A microblogging platform? A social network?
To its devotees, Reddit feels proudly untamed, one of the last Internet giants to resist homogeneity. Most Reddit pages have a throwback aesthetic, with a few crudely designed graphics and a tangle of text: an original post, comments on the post, responses to the comments, responses to the responses. Reddit is made up of more than a million individual communities, or subreddits, some of which have three subscribers, some twenty million.
Some people end up on Reddit by accident, find it baffling, and never visit again. It was the day before Thanksgiving.
Less than two weeks after Pizzagate was banned, a man fired a semiautomatic rifle inside a D. Comet Ping Pong does not have a basement. Some of the conspiracy theorists left Reddit and reunited on Voat, a site made by and for the users that Reddit sloughs off. Many social networks have such Bizarro networks, which brand themselves as strongholds of free speech and in practice are often used for hate speech. People banned from Twitter end up on Gab; people banned from Patreon end up on Hatreon.
By this time, it had become a hermetic subculture, full of inside jokes and ugly rhetoric. Within minutes, they started to express their outrage that Pizzagate had been deleted. Huffman, alone at his computer, wondered whether to respond. Social-media platforms must do something to rein in their users, the consensus goes, but not that.
Reddit and the Struggle to Detoxify the Internet
Is it possible to facilitate a space for open dialogue without also facilitating hoaxes, harassment, and threats of violence? Where is the line between authenticity and toxicity?
What if, after technology allows us to reveal our inner voices, what we learn is that many of us are authentically toxic? The only way to understand the Internet, at least at first, was by metaphor. In order to answer that question, the Justices had to ask another question: What is social media? In sixty minutes of oral argument, Facebook was compared to a park, a playground, an airport terminal, a polling place, and a town square.
It might be most helpful to compare a social network to a party. The party starts out small, with the hosts and a few of their friends. Then word gets out and strangers show up. People take cues from the environment. Mimosas in a sun-dappled atrium suggest one kind of mood; grain alcohol in a moldy basement suggests another. Sometimes, a pattern emerges on its own. Pinterest, a simple photo-sharing site founded by three men, happened to catch on among women aspiring to an urbane life style, and today the front page is often a collage of merino scarves and expensive glassware.
In other cases, the gatekeeping seems more premeditated. This encourages old people to self-deport. Huffman and his college roommate, Alexis Ohanian, founded Reddit a few weeks after graduating from the University of Virginia, in The first people to show up were, like the co-founders, the kind of strong-headed young men who got excited about computer programming, video games, and edgy, self-referential humor.
At the time, Facebook was available only to college students, and before joining it you had to provide your real name, your birthday, and a valid school e-mail address—the equivalent of being carded at the door. This week, the gals tap into their creative sides with some stories straight out of a lifestyle magazine.

Topics include a whole bunch of rats with a great lawyer, some poor piggies with a taste for blood, and the legal loopholes of monkey selfies. So, flyinghead finally feels confident enough that we are at a stage where the WinCE branch can be merged into master.
This is a pretty big deal. This marks the first time that an open source Dreamcast emulator has Windows CE support in a mainline release, along with arcade Naomi support. Right now, the only other emulator that manages to emulate both these is a closed source emulator called demul. So this is a pretty big milestone for us.
It no longer serves any purpose, you can just download the Flycast core instead which was Windows CE support now built-in. If you have any games in your old playlists that still use the Flycast WinCE core, reset the core association and make it use the main Flycast core now.
This has been a tremendous undertaking and in the process, so many improvements have been made as a result:. This is no longer the case thankfully. Instead, performance has actually improved over the non-Windows CE build from before see the next point. Turn this off and repeat the same process in order to hide all the VMU display-related options again. This will greatly unclutter the options list. Threaded rendering needs early input polling configured or else input will be buggy.
In the past, the user needed to do this manually on RetroArch, which greatly complicated things. Now instead, we do this behind the scenes through a private libretro API extension, so you no longer have to tediously configure this yourself.
It was annoying and could mess with your configuration since for other cores you would really want to set it to late input polling for the best input latency. We have included a before and after comparison of Skies of Arcadia so you can get an idea of how much of an improvement it is — this is Skies of Arcadia before and after implementing the LPF Low-Pass Filter —.
So, in short, the low-pass filter has been implemented. This filter has an envelope, similar to the already implemented one for amplitude. The other thing added is the pitch LFO, which is used to create a vibrato effect. So far, the only sound inaccuracy I have noticed in a game is that certain music that is triggered upon events such as in Resident Evil Code: Veronica does not get properly faded out.
Apart from that, sound accuracy has seen a tremendous improvement, really night and day in a lot of respects in games like Resident Evil 2 and Skies of Arcadia.
For now it uses the interpreter core only, but m4xw is going to work on getting the dynarec working. Dreamcast on Switch will go strong in the future, with the arrivial of flyinghead's Flycast! Mats is currently working on it, runs on Interpreter now.
I will shine in and fix the dynarec and work on the exceptions, so everyone can enjoy the full experience! Skip to content So, flyinghead finally feels confident enough that we are at a stage where the WinCE branch can be merged into master.
