I've submitted a paper to an Elsevier journal. They sent me a mail a month ago stating that it is with the editor-in-chief. Recently I received another email that my paper is now with the associate editor. However, the status on the online submission system remains the same: "with editor. Thanks in advance. The status have been "With editor" since a month. I have done a submission to other journal some months before and the "with editor" process was just a week. I want to know if it is normal to wait a long time in order to change of status.

But I did not receive any response after 2 weeks.
